The beautiful cycle of the Christian life.

Every good thing we have is because of GRACE, which should inspire THANKSGIVING, which leads us to satisfying JOY.
.
Life can easily feel empty, monotonous, and meaningless, even if we know it's not.
.
I started reading One Thousand Gifts by @annvoskamp last week. I'm 2.5 chapters in and it's already challenged me.
.
Ann encourages us toward a life of radical gratitude. She wonders if maybe life feels so empty sometimes because we fail to see all the gifts God has provided in the here and now.
.
"In giving thanks for the life she already had, she found the life she'd always wanted."
.
I challenge you to thank God for his grace today. Gratitude can have a bigger impact on your joy than you think.

We recently got 2 little kayaks and we've been enjoying using them at the lake :)

I've also been going on walks/jogs/hikes and working out outside with my volleyball team over Zoom! 😊

Historical fantasy is a genre I didn't think I would love, but I really enjoyed this book! I'm SO glad I decided to give it a try!

Fawkes is a fantasy retelling of the Gunpowder plot written by Christian author @nadinebrandes. It's a historical story, but the theme of looking for truth in a lie-driven world is so relevant today.
.
Seriously, guys. I'm a very picky reader and I loved this book!

How are you spending your weekend? Are you staying sane with all the craziness on social media? 💙

This weekend I'm working on ACT prep, "going to" our last virtual church service, and doing lots of writing.
.
My prayer today is that we will learn to be rational and God-fearing seekers of truth, while also allowing ourselves to be open and compassionate towards those who are suffering.
.
In the midst of all the panic the world is spreading, rest in God's truth today: Jesus died to save sinners and he's coming back soon. He alone is a righteous judge.

First of all, The Chosen is amazing and you should all go watch it.

Second, can this be my new life motto??

Oh, how I want people to look at me and my life and say, "she's different." I want them to see Christ when they see me.
✨
When the world tells us lies about how we're supposed to live, I pray that we as believers choose to be different. To stand out. To make people uncomfortable. To tell others about the God who saved our souls and how desperately they need his grace. Because that's how we show the world who Christ is. That's how Jesus lived. He was different. ✨
It's easier to go with the flow. I find myself falling into this trap often. That's why we need God's grace, and fellowship with other believers who are striving to be different.

Once Esther was in the hallway of the saferooms, she let out a long breath. What a day. She followed Candyse down the stone hallway, lined from one end to the other with guards in their dark gray uniforms, to a metal-doored, locked room. This time, Esther had to scan her own palm and Candyse’s on the wall’s scanner to allow them to enter.
.
“This will be yours and King Xander’s bedroom until the lockdown is over,” Candyse said. “The servants brought down some of your things from your suite.” Esther scanned the room, which reminded her more of the servant’s quarters than a bedroom for royalty. Still nicer than Myrick’s apartment in the Outercity, though.

Her first night as a married woman. Spent with a king who hated Followers, in a saferoom beneath the White House after King Xander was nearly assassinated. Not spent with Abel, the man she loved with all of her heart, in their own little house far, far away from D.C. and the king.

Curse them. Curse everything.

Shaking, she said, “I’m going to be sick, Candyse.”
.
With concerned eyes, Candyse led her to the bathroom, where she lost her dinner. She sank down to the cold bathroom floor, trembling. Candyse sat down with her, not saying anything.

Once her stomach had settled, Esther attempted a weak smile. “Some magnificent queen I am, right? Throwing up in the toilet, lying on the floor in the bathroom.”
.
Candyse chuckled. She lowered her voice, her motherly, kind eyes shining. “Magnificent or not, if we had a king half as capable as you, this country wouldn’t be the mess that it is.”

Sometimes I find myself in a bad mood for no apparent reason. I often realize that I'm simply not being content with my circumstances.

It's important to remind ourselves of what we have that we don't deserve, and what we deserve that we, especially as believers, don't have.

I love this story more and more the more I write of it. Unfortunately, since it's the first draft I don't have much of anything share-able 😅 but we'll get there one day.

I've been studying the book of Esther a lot recently, and it's a great reminder of how God works even when it's not obvious. He can use any situation and any person for his purposes. This is incredibly comforting to me, especially in the uncertain and frightening world we live in today.

Read Esther over again (or for the first time!) sometime if you get a chance. I think you'll find it encouraging.
